Cake Guide
Pick up and Transport
When you first pick-up your cake, it will be boxed and ready for transport. Always hold the box from the bottom, do not put pressure on the sides or the top, as this may touch the cake and mess-up the decoration.
Place the cake box on the floor of your car, not on the seat. You want the cake to be on a flat surface. If you are placing it in your trunk, using a grip mat (like for under rugs) is recommended, to keep the box from moving around.
Be sure that the cake stays cool, turn on the AC or use icepacks if traveling for a long time in hot conditions.
Cake Care
The whole cake can be left out at room temperature un-cut for 24 hours, as long as it stays under 60ºF and is out of the sun. If it is hotter than 60º, keep in a refrigerator, and then remove 30 minutes to an hour before consuming to allow the buttercream to soften.
Do not display cake in the sun. It will melt.
Once the cake is cut keep covered and consume within 3 days. We do not recommend freezing your cake.
Cutting your Cake
A short serrated knife, such as a tomato knife, is best for cutting cake. Use a gentle sawing motion to cut through layers and a damp towel to wipe off blade between slices to ensure a beautiful, clean slice.
